In preparation for your upcoming expectations, we have compiled a set of questions and answers to ensure that you have all the necessary information to make informed decisions.

What to expect during the Design Development Phase.

How long will the Design Development phase take?

The Design Phase will take anywhere from 1.5 months to 4 months depending on the size of your project. We like to meet with you weekly to keep the project moving. Some weeks we may need extra time for larger presentations, so we would schedule a meeting 2-3 weeks in advance.

What is included in the Design Development phase?

Project Budget, 3D modeling, Mood & Style Design Boards, Construction Documents, Material Coordination and Selection, and a finalized plan and look for the new spaces.

Digital or Printed?

Will the presentation items be digital or printed?

We like to keep as much of the presentation items digital as possible. (To save trees!) However, if a 3D rendering needs to be printed to show board members or a family member, that is an option. We also print a couple sets of the final construction documents for the selected contractors and for the permits.

You will also see most of the physical material samples in the design presentation meetings so you know what to expect when it comes to quality and look.

Communication

How do we communicate?

Although it may be easy to text or email a quick question about the project, it is best if we address all of the design details and decisions in the weekly meetings so important details are not missed. We use texting to confirm appointments and emails for invoices. 

Billing

How do we pay?

Estimates with a retainer are presented to you after the initial consultation. This includes an outline of the project with all of the predicted work to be accomplished. We send invoices on the 1st and the 15th of the month based on hours spent on your behalf. Product invoices will also be sent on the 1st or 15th of the month. If additional work is added to the original scope of work, you will be billed at our hourly rate that you will see on our contract. 

We accept Venmo, Zelle, wire transfers or checks. 

Construction Phase

How involved is Designs Daly during the construction phase?

Once we hand off the construction documents, we still like to be involved with any meetings relating to the materials, finishes, fixtures or design layouts. If a product or design needs to be adjusted based on something discovered behind the wall, we will be there to come up with a solution that still coordinates with the overall plan.

Do you have your own contractors, engineers, architects?

We have worked with multiple contractors, architects and engineers over the years. Once the design phase is complete, we can refer you to the creative professionals that we think would be best for your project.

Expediting 

Does Designs Daly manage and install all of the materials, fixtures, furnishings and decor?

The answer is mostly! Once all of the designs and products are approved, it is our responsibility to manage all of the project goods. Materials attached to the structure are managed and delivered by Designs Daly and installed by the contractor. Decor and Furnishings are installed by Designs Daly. All goods take anywhere from 4-18 weeks to receive. 

We do not manage the appliances. They will need to be purchased directly.

Shopping

Do we go shopping together?

Designs Daly works directly with a number of trade professionals. This is where we source your products from for your designs. If you would like us to go with you to look at a specific art piece or a furniture piece, we can do so and add it into your design. 

Storage

Where are all of the products stored?

There are a couple options when it comes to storing your project items.

  1. We work with a storage facility that can store all of the new items during the construction phase. This will be an additional cost for the project.
  2. A storage pod can be delivered and stored on site.
  3. The clients garage is a common option.

Discounts

Does Designs Daly give discounts?

We pass along 7-15% off of the retail price to you. When our vendors are having sales, we will also inform you and pass along those prices as well. Those are the only two types of discounted pricing we provide.

Returns

Do we accept product returns or can items be returned?

Purchased items can be returned within 15 days of being received. However, it will potentially hold up the project. We make sure every item is reviewed and approved before ordering. We give as much information about the product as possible to avoid returns. If extra material is left over, it can sometimes be returned and it will include a restocking fee. We suggest to keep the overage we order for future repairs.

Custom items cannot be returned.
